It is official! New York Fashion Week is officially underway. I am truly green with envy. Perhaps I will just wear one of these amazing looks as I run my errands today in Beijing.

The world of fashion moves so fast. It seems that before it is even time to buy a spring wardrobe, it is time to look forward to buying a fall one. The pace can be overwhelming at times, but it can also be beneficial. It helps you recognize which trends have staying power, and more importantly – it pushes bad trends out the door a little more quickly. In honor of the start of NYFW Fall 2012 tomorrow, this post is dedicated to those looks from the Spring 2012 collections that needed to be shoved, not just pushed out the door. Here are my favorite Spring 2012 Fashion DON’TS!
Why not mix it up this New Year’s Eve and trade in that LBD for a night-on-the-town worthy suit? These sexy suits certainly won’t disappoint!
Note: Real life wear will most likely require a camisole! Or at least a HUGE statement necklace. Azzaro Spring 2012
This look definitely needs a different "do" - as in hair and a different shoe (this one feels a bit lack luster for NYE). Giles Spring 2012
How about adding a bright-colored clutch to this classic black look. Also...probably best to NOT show your mid-drift and crazy cleavage. John Richmond 2012
If you can't afford to run out and buy this Jean Paul Gaultier suit...how about adding a similar cape-like detail with a long piece of silk chiffon in the same tone as a suit you already own and love. Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2012 RTW
Or...if you can't find a suit you absolutely love, how about pairing a fitted jacket or blazer with a fabulous party skirt. It looks great here on Hillary Rhoda, right? *Just be sure to pull it down lower on your hips, like her, so the jacket can show off your slim waist. Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2012
Happy Suiting!

Who says you have to save sparkles for New Year’s Eve? Certainly not ABIB!
I should probably warn you that some of these looks are NOT Midnight Mass or Christmas Eve church program appropriate – but if you are going to the annual see-and-be-seen Christmas Eve party at the “Smith’s” or celebrating with a new love at a fancy restaurant, then these little numbers are the perfect inspirations. (I use the word inspiration because these looks are from the Spring 2012 runways…not available to us quite yet!)
Red sparkle pants! Perfect for this HO-HO-HO-Holiday! Alternatively, you could winterize the look with a sweater up top. Antonio Berardi Spring 2012
Who doesn't want to look like a snowflake this time of year? I also love the sequined jacket with the second look in the background. Chanel RTW Spring 2012
Going on a Christmas Eve date? Look "sweet" in this gingerbread house inspired cocktail dress. Pucci Spring 2012
Yes - this is a touch dressy for the average Christmas Eve celebration. That said, I am certain that Zara has a skirt very similar to these fish scale sequins right now, and it would be darling if paired with a crisp, perfectly fitted white button up shirt. Maybe throw in a few colored bangles too. Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2012
Work with me on this one....I realize that there is A LOT going on here. But my inspiration take-away for a fun Christmas Eve look is pairing Kelly green and silver sparkles. This could be done with a simple green pencil skirt (I have seen them at multiple retail outlets) and a shimmery silver sweater. Black lacquered accessories would add a needed bit of edge. Manish Arora Spring 2012
Who doesn't love a shiny gold package at Christmas? While this one is quite "slinky" for the occasion - I love gold at a holiday party. Also, shiny little numbers like this can always be toned down with a fitted black blazer or a sweet winter white cardigan. A pretty ballet flat is another way to take it down a notch...although you know how difficult that is for me to suggest! Obviously, a heel is a lady-leg's best friend. Pucci Spring 2012
Snow bunny anyone? Again - these looks are far too formal for the majority of people on this night, but I wanted to use it as an example of winter white. White is such an angelic color. What better night to wear it? But I should warn you to wear it cautiously...you don't want to end up looking like you are supposed to be at the Annual Tacky Christmas Party. Giorgio Armani RTW Spring 2012
Merry Christmas, God Bless, and Happy Sparkles!
I would love to see what you do end up wearing to your Holiday Parties. If you send me pics…I will post them!

Not only did Christian Louboutin create a beautiful book of his best works to commemorate his 20 remarkable years in the land of red leather soles, he is also trotting the globe to celebrate with his diehard fans. Lucky for us, he made a stop in Shanghai (only a 2 hour flight away). Even more lucky for us, our dear friend Kara got us on the list!
Brett and I decided to make a nice little weekend it out of it, and since the cocktail party for CL happened to be at the Long Bar at the Waldorf Astoria on the Bund… it seemed that we should book a room for ourselves there as well! I am so glad that we did. It was the perfect little retreat from China…I mean Beijing. You see – Shanghai is China Light. Actually, it is China Extra Light and at this time year, at Christmas, when we miss our families and the city that never sleeps, we crave little reminders. With it’s perfectly decorated tree, an outpost of The Peacock Alley Lounge, and a service level that puts Tokyo to shame – the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund was just what the non-chinese medicine doctor ordered.
We arrived at the hotel around 4PM which left plenty of time for enjoying the view of the city while munching on an authentic reuben with home fries before the pre-party primping began. By 7:30 we were on the elevator heading down to the Long Bar to meet Mr. Red Sole himself.
It was as if the party had been taken from the pages of his book. Special edition and collector pieces graced the feet of almost every female guest. I have never looked down so much at a party before!
Entrance to the Long Bar with the signature Christian Louboutin bird-cage. The entire bar was filled with them. So cute!
The Man of the Hour - Christian Louboutin and Me. Congratulations CL on 20 impressive and over-the-top years.
Spinning some tunes with the DJ! Isn't he pretty? That's right...all the way from Thailand, this beautiful boy puts most ladies to shame. You should have seen him dressed and performing as Rihanna. Gorgeous!
After the party, we walked across the lobby to Pelham's for their delectable tasting menu. From 4 courses to 12, and any number in between, you can create your own tasting experience. These bellies only allowed for 4!
We decided to enjoy a proper bloody mary back at the Long Bar before heading to the airport on Sunday. It really is a LONG bar...right?
And then we discovered this special edition Blanton's. As a Kentucky girl...I had to try it! Obviously, Brett didn't make me drink alone.
Yes, it is loud - but what else do you expect from Missoni? I really wish I would have had this look for South Africa!
More from Missoni. Love the pants - but I think they need to be paired with a basic tank. The fringe number is a little much for those of under 6 feet tall and weighing more than 100 lbs!
Doesn't every sunbather need a pink parasol? While overall this look from Tsumori Chisato is a bit over-the-top - but as separates, I think the parasol and the skirt are darling.
Another OTT (over-the-top) look with matching parasol from Tsumori Chisato. For the less girly girl type.
Mark Fast wasn't quite fast enough getting this to the runway...This would have been perfect for Mozambique!
Please share your favorites looks with A B in B…

Spring is in the air! Okay…Fall is in the air, but at winter’s end, when the snow melts, the buds bloom, and the blue birds return – we will all have plenty of “Great Whites” to wear. Here are several of the most interesting whites that made their way down the runway. (À mon avis…bien sûr!) I guess I should have saved that phrase for next week…but I don’t know how to say “in my opinion” in Italian!

The title of this blog is not a typo – the models you see here are not leading ladies, they are leaning ladies. Inspired by the marvel of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Frankie Morello’s Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection pays homage to this wonder of the modern world.
This photo was snapped at the perfect moment...but think about it - she splits the tower with every step she takes!
This is as close as a designer can get to a literal "column" dress (okay column jumpsuit, but still...)
Dear Katy Perry, I am counting on you to sport this look down a red carpet. Sincerely, The Blonde in Beijing

With the whimsy and sex-kitten nature of the designs that Jeremy Scott is famous for, it is no surprise that some of his biggest fans include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. His Spring 2012 collection is no exception to his “there are no rules” rule when it comes to fashion.
This season he is undoubtedly paying homage to the Wild Wild West. Well – that and maybe a 7-Eleven at Panama City Beach that sells postcards, sunscreen, and oversize t-shirts with silkscreen bikinis on them.
One thing is certain. He has his own unique point of view, and he has cornered the TRASHTASTIC market.
It will take a special person to pull of the bandana bikini dress (Katy Perry comes to mind) - but I would totally wear the other two mini dresses...with different hair of course. Or maybe not...
